Introduction:
The subject Assamese was started as compulsory subject along with MIL as Assamese from the very inception of the college, i.e. 1993. The concerned University accorded permission to start this subject at general standard at first. Then, accorded permission to start Major in Assamese 1994.

Title: A daylong Seminar on ‘Adhunik Asomiya Geetar Udbhav aru Bikash’
Date: 6-02-2019

Venue: Deomornoi Degree College
Organizer : Assamese Department, Deomornoi Degree College and Darrangar Gabeshana Pratisthan
Collaboration : Mangaldai Anchalik Karyalay (Asom Sahitya Sobha)
Resource person : Dr.Prasanna Kumar Nath, Associate professor,Assamese Department, Sipajhar College.
Objectives : To acclimatize the participants on the rise and development of modern Assamese song, its aspects and characteristics.
Participant’s : Altogether 195 participants including Teachers,students from various deptt. , office staff of the college along with a host of distinguished personalities from the locality also attended the event.
Description about the seminar :
On 6th February,2019 Assamese Department, Deomornoi Degree College had successfully organized a one-day seminar on Adhunik Geetor Udbhav aru Bikash’at the College premises.The programme anchored by Binoy Bhushan Sarma,Asstt. Prof. Assamese Deptt.of DDC, began with a chorus by the students of Ass. Deptt. and the lighting of the earthen lamp by Sri Anita Devi ,HOD, Assamese Deptt., DDC .
Anita Devi, HOD explain the purpose of the programme and also delivered welcome speech. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Gitali Kalita,principal,Deomornoi Degree College. Sri Sailen Kr. Rajbongshi, secretary, Darrang Zila Sahitya Sabha introduced the Resource person and the guest to the audience. After that Dr. Gitali Kalita delivered a brief speech from the chair of inaugurator.
The Resource person Dr. Prasanna Kr. Nath,Associate Professor of Ass. Deptt. Sipajhar College, delivered a two hour long lecture with in which he dwelt in great detail upon rise and development ,aspects and characteristics of modern assamese song.
Chief guest Dr. Paramananda Rajbongshi ,honourable president of Asom Sahitya Sabha and guest of honour Dr. Bijoy Kr. Sarmah,Associate professor ,Mangaldai College, Deptt. Of Assamese also delivered fruitful speech about modern assamese song.
The students were greatly benefitted by the questions raised on various aspects of the topic and the responses and suggestions forwarded by the Resource Person.
Two students namely Nayantara Deka sang a song and Pranamika Saikia performed a modern dance.
It finally came to an end with the vote of thanks offered by Asstt. prof. Dr. Moon Mani Devi.
We are all immensely benifitted from the seminar organized .
Feedback: The organizers of the seminar were highly impressed by the overwhelming responses and feedbacks received from the students.The feedback was received from the learners from the Question Answer session during the course of the seminar.
Further prospect: Keeping view on the active participation of the students and their eagerness to learn, the organizers were motivated to organize such seminars and workshops in future too.

Resource person : Dr. Sanjib pal Deka, Assistant professor,Assamese Department, Dibrugarh University.
Guest: Dr. Bijoy Kr. Sarmah, Retired Professor, Mangaldai College.
Objectives : To acclimatize the participants on the Assamese Literature, its history, formation, aspects and characteristics.
Participant’s : Altogether 198 participants including Teachers,students from various deptt. , office staff of the college along with a host of distinguished personalities from the locality also attended the event.

On 2nd November,2019 Assamese Department, Deomornoi Degree College had successfully organized a one-day seminar on Asomiya Sahitya: Itihas aru Nirman at the College premises.The programme anchored by Binoy Bhushan Sarma,Asstt. Prof. Assamese Deptt.of DDC, began with a chorus by the students of Ass. Deptt. and the [ighting of the earthen lamp by Sri Anita Devi ,HOD, Assamese Deptt., DDC .

The students were greatly benefitted by the questions raised on various aspects of the topic and the responses and suggestions forwarded by the Resource Person.
It is to be noted that during this event a magazine with the title ‘Sanchipat’ published by Sahity parisad of Ass. Deptt.were also released by Dr. Kamala Knt.Sarmah, guest senior Dr.of Deomornoi Hospital as well as the famous poet. In the seminar honourable guest Dr. Bijoy Kr. Sarmah,prof. of Mangaldai College also delivered a fruitful and valuable speech.. After that a short speech by Dr. Gitali Kalita, respected Chair-person of seminar.It finally came to an end with the vote of thanks offered by Asstt. prof. Dr. Moon Mani Devi.

Objectives : To acclimatize the participants on the Assamese Ballad, its aspects and characteristics.
Participant’s : Altogather 172 participants including Teachers and students from various deptt. Of the college along with a host of distinguished personalities from the locality also attended the event.

On 29th December,2021 Assamese Deptt. And IQAC, Deomornoi Degree College and Darrang Janakristi Samaj had successfully organized a one-day seminar on “Assamese Ballad” and book inauguration programme at the College premises.The programme anchored by Sri Anita Devi , HOD, Assamese Deptt. , began with a chorus and the [ighting of the earthen lamp by Sri Mahendra Kataki , honourable president of the Governing Body , DDC as well as the retired professor of Assamese Deptt. Of Sipajhar College.
Assistant professor Sri Pallab Baruah explain the purpose of the programme and secretary of Darrang Jana Kristi Samaj Mr. Sunil Goswami introduced the guest to the audience. The programme attended by some distinguished academies to at chaired by Dr. Gitali Kalita, Principal of Deomornoi Degree College.
Honourable Dr. Kanak Ch. Sahariah,HOD of Ass. Deptt. Gauhati University, delivered two hour long lecture in which he dwelt in great detail upon all aspects of ‘Assamese Ballad.’ A number of student namely Jimani Deka and Luckysree Rajbongshi from Assamese Deptt. Presented their respective papers prepared on Assamese Ballad.
The students were greatly benefitted by the questions raised on various aspects of the topic and the responses and suggestions forwarded by the Resource Person.
It is to be noted that during this event a book with the tittle ‘Prabandha Astok’ authored by assistant professor Dr. Moon Mani Devi and a hand-written magazine namely ‘Sporsho’ edited by Jimani Deka were also released by Dr. Bijoy Kr. Sarmah, guest professor of Srimanta Sankardev University, Nagaon. After that a short speech by Dr. Gitali Kalita from her Chair.It finally came to an end with the vote of thanks offered by Asstt. prof. Binoy Bhushan Sarma.
